This event will include a viewing of some of our Creative Reactions artworks - art inspired by our Pint of Science speakers' research.

The pursuit of drugs and a better life

Dr Martin Lear (Associate Professor)
How are drugs discovered? How are they made? How do we tackle diseases? How can chemicals be tailored to kill COVID and not you? Why did Brian Cransten in 'Breaking Bad' cook chemicals in his underpants? Can chemistry really make your life better? Can chemistry provide the methods and tools to do all this? You bet!

Virus Velcro - fashion, science and engineering united against COVID

Dr Nick Tucker (Associate Professor)
Did you know fashion, engineering, and science are closely related? We all rely on science and engineering for our existence and we mostly all wear clothes. This talk will tell the story of how fashionistas and boffins worked together with the common aim of developing a face covering that is much more effective against the COVID virus.
